A LIFETIME OF MUSIC
Dr Stephen Cass has been a drummer, percussionist, and vocalist for over 40 years. Having studied at Harvard and Oxford, he has toured and performed in over twenty-five countries and at venues ranging from The Montreux Jazz Festival and Carnegie Hall to CBGB’s and The Troubadour. He has worked with world-famous artists in a range of styles and media from classical to rock to jazz, and from television to live to studio recording.
Raised in California, Stephen has lived and worked in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and London.

"As a drummer, my role is not to impose but to listen and to support-- creating a conversation between artists that best allows the composition and performance – be it a classical concerto or a heavy metal classic – to be heard, felt, and appreciated in all its emotional and technical depth.
I teach my students not to be drummers, but to be MUSICIANS, and that what is not heard is as important to the final work as what is heard. I bring this ethos to my own studio and live work...with a large dose of friendliness and humor!"
